Interview // Ghoulie the BTR dog

Ghoulie sat on his first motorcycle at just eight weeks old. He felt an instant connection and has been the BTR spokes-dog ever since. With a love of adventure and all things outdoors, Ghoulie is an essential member of the BTR Team.

Q: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us today Ghoulie, we know you’re a busy dog!
A: No problem, but I’ve got some trails to get too so lets keep it moving!

Q: First off, how old are you, what breed, and what age did you start riding?
A: I am an Australian Shepherd, I’m just over one and have been riding on the gas tank since eight weeks old!

Q: Is it true that you are a good boy?
A: I’ve heard this rumour many times, and after some consideration, yes – yes I am a good boy. Now where’s my treat?

Q: Treat’s are for after the interview! Now, what are some of your interests outside or riding?
A: I really enjoy chasing chipmunks at the BTR track, sometimes squirrels, and of course visiting all the local bike shops!

Q: Favourite bike?
A: My favourite bike is my DRZ400s dual sport. The tank bag makes it easy for me to hold on when I go for rides.

Q: I hear you help with maintenance at the BTR Endurocross track?
A: As a dog, I have the natural ability to be a great digger, so when dirt needs to be moved or dug, I’m the dog for the job.

Q: What has been the best trip you’ve been on so far?
A: We took the BTR van down the Oregon and California coast and had a great time! I ran in the dunes, explored the deserts and forests and slept beside the ocean. Seeing the ocean for the first time was a little scary, but once I realized it was just water, I jumped right in! I got so many treats from strangers that trip, I can’t wait to go back.

Q: Do you have a favourite pro rider?
A: For off road I am a fan of Cody Webb, simply because he seems like a rider that could follow some of my crazy lines in the rocks. I like hanging out in the pits at Endurocross and off road races, but Supercross needs to get with the times and allow dogs in the stadiums!

Q: Do you have a favorite movie?
A: I’m pretty active and rather be outside then watching a movie, but any moto movie is right up my alley. Non moto would be Homeward Bound and Racing in the rain!

Q: What gets you stoked?
A: Treats, kibbles, and dirt bikes!

Q: Favourite terrain to ride?
A: I love gnarly rock sections, I can make passes on the tough lines while riders are stuck. I also like flowy single track while mountain biking.

Q: Favourite treat?
A: Anything coconut! Coconut chunks, oil, I love it all!

Q: I’ve heard rumors that you are good friends with a couple cats?
A: No comment.

Q: Do you have a favourite toy?
A: Dirt bike grips! I have a couple now and they’re way better than any regular dog toys. Also, you can’t go wrong with a good stick!

Q: Have you had any Injuries?
A: I cut open the pad on one of my front paws when I was ten weeks old and had to get a few stitches. I had to have my bandage changed daily because I wouldn’t stay off the track and kept getting it wet and dirty.

Q: Any last words?
A: To anyone that recognizes me at a race or event please come say hi and give me some pets! I love taking photos with riders and meeting new people, especially if you share your lunch with me.
