On Any Sunday Viewing

If you are reading this post, then you probably know of the Bruce Brown classic, “On Any Sunday”. Released in 1971, it has remained a staple film for the motorcycle community, representing all forms of riding and racing and showing the best riders of the time.

On March 11, 2018, we were part of four groups that brought On Any Sunday back to the big screen at our local cinema. We all came together, rented the theatre for the evening, loaded it full of vintage and custom bikes for attendees to drool over and put the word out to our local riders. The take over of our local cinema was under way!

Around 150 enthusiastic riders gathered in the evening to re-live the classic, and for some it would be the first time seeing it. After a two minute Built To Ride intro, the feature presentation took the screen to the cheers and smiles of all that attended. For the next hour and a half everyones eyes were glued to the images of Mert Lawwill, Malcolm Smith, Steve McQueen and countless legends on two wheels.

With spring struggling to arrive in the Okanagan, the inspiration brought on by the film was more then well received, with riders all talking about getting there bikes out in the next week, regardless of the conditions. We can't thank all that attended enough, and of course the groups that came together to make this great evening happen. Seeing On Any Sunday in theatre is such a great experience and we wish all motorcycle enthusiasts could could have the opportunity to do so in their lifetime. If you haven't seen this movie, do yourself a favour by watching it and paying tribute to the riders, and filmmaker, Bruce Brown, that truly brought two wheels to the mainstream over forty years ago.
